Become a Massage Therapist.

Massage Therapy is a 11-14 billion dollar industry according to the two leading massage associations.  With such an increase in massage in the world, massage therapists are in demand.  You can find jobs in hospitals, doctors offices, hospices as well as chiropractors, spas and airports to name a few.  Most massage therapists start their own massage business.

I have written the "Massage Therapy Career Guide" after 20 years working in the massage profession.  Massage Schools and associations are in the business of finding people to fill their schools and associations.  While the profession is in demand, there is much more to it than having good hands.  Understanding what it all really is about will help you to be ahead of most of the therapists just starting out and will help you to be more successful.

The massage profession is portrayed by nice pictures like this ...

-Thin, healthy, relaxed in rooms with soothing colors and candles...

They don't show any pictures of the overweight, stressed out, injured, with scars down their backs from surgery or talk anything about the stories of stressful situations that people come in with and talk about.  Massage has a way of bringing up past emotional issues such as anger, rage, sadness and grief are all stored in the body.

Where are the men with hairy backs?

Women who can't fit on your table because they are so large?

The people in car accidents with whiplash and herniated discs who are in such pain they can't sit for more than 20 minutes?

What massage school also fails to address adequately is how will you set up a massage business that will be successful or how can you find a job that pays more than $25 an hour or pays a decent salary so you can make a really good living.

The thing is that it all can be dealt with and you can even make a decent living of $50,000 if that is what you are committed to getting.  To make that amount and more you need to understand business and marketing, be committed to learning about yourself and be constantly learning how to earn your worth (which often involves building your own sense of self worth and self confidence)

My Ebook - "The Massage Therapy Career Guide - The truth about becoming a massage therapist can help you do just that.  When you go into the career understanding just what it is about and accept the challenge your chances of success increase dramatically.

much money as you need?

These and other questions are answered in my Ebook

The Massage Therapy Career Guide -
The Truth about becoming a massage therapist.

Massage Therapy Careers ARE the upcoming profession where you can make as much money as you want while creating your own schedule.  Massage is being accepted more by health insurance companies as well as in hospitals and assisted living communities.  Sports teams and facilities are using massage to enhance performance of everyday athletes as well as Olympic Athletes.

The thing is that massage schools and associations are creating a picture of massage as a relaxing, positive environment to attract you to the profession.  Your emotions are what often get involved in making a decision about your career.  Doing research about a career in massage can help you make a better decision based on 'critical thinking' and my Ebook is the beginning of providing information and helping you to understand the profession more so you can ask the right questions of the massage schools and massage therapists you interview.

I am writing this after 20 years of making a living as a massage therapist in Seattle WA.  Through the years I have seen many massage therapists come and go - some that I have even personally recommended going to massage school.  When I first started there were very few jobs and doing massage was more about a lifestyle than making a living.  As more massage therapists have entered the market, it makes massage therapists take their massage business more seriously and see it as a business - not a part of themselves.

Being a massage therapist can still be a very rewarding and successful career when you go into it being fully prepared and informed.   You can do so when you purchase the "Massage Therapy Career Guide - The Truth about becoming a massage therapist" now in it's 4th edition since 2002.  I constantly am updating the information based on feedback from my readers.

What others are saying:

"I owe my decision to become a massage therapist to you. Your online book"...Cheryl

"I have been in practice since 2003 and I work alone. I have had many challenges.
Your Ebook helped me in so many ways"... Fris
"I'm pleased to see that you are giving such an honest and truthful opinion about how a career in
massage can really be. I am constantly on the internet searching for info on massage.
I've had an interest in becoming a massage therapist for a few years. In the meantime,
I've gotten a diploma in business and I'm trying to now make the decision to begin the process of
becoming a massage therapist or to venture into university. I'm very confused about the
decision, so its always great to read things that are not swaying me one way or the other"... Christina
"I just wanted to thank you for this website! The work you put into it is really valuable and very
informative. I am preparing to study at Chicago School of Massage and you really put everything
into perspective, without all the hype the schools feed us"....Michael
