A wealthy massage therapist understands the value of purchasing and creating a website that supports their business and gets them new clients each week and makes them money directly from some method of monetizing the website.
Some ways of making money with a website outside of your service is to use Google Adsense ads on your site, write an ebook on a specific health related topic and sell it, refer people to affiliate programs that will give you a referral fee. There are many different ways to make money other than promoting your massage services.
A Sitebuildit! Site costs $299 a year but if you are getting one new client a week and charge say $65 per massage - thats $3250 you make not counting the number of clients who become regular clients. If one new client became a weekly client that would be $3250 for one client. Multiply that by 50 new clients a year…well you get the idea I think. For more information on Sitebuildit! and learn about promoting your service business online
or let me know if you have any questions.
Another great example of a Sitebuildit! website that works is www.fortcollins-massage.com

No requirements are needed to become a massage therapist in Alaska.
Please let me know when there are any changes.
What is it like to practice massage in AK without any licensing restrictions?
Are you able to build lucrative practices? Are you able to bill insurance companies for massage? Are there local licensing requirments?

The Wealthy massage therapist has a clear picture of what it is that they get out of doing massage - not just the obvious factors but what feeling do you get out of doing massage and helping others.
Many come to this profession thinking they want to help others. Some get here because they have been to a massage therapist who was influential in helping them deal with a condition or helped them to feel better. Some come thinking that they just want to be a part of a career that you can set your own hours and have your freedom while making a high hourly wage. Some are called to the profession and feel compelled to pursue massage. Some come to massage after being told that they have ‘good hands’ and that they should do massage.
Whatever the reason that is drawing you to the massage profession or has drawn you to the massage profession will usually be the thing that also leads to challenges as a massage therapist.
Becoming more aware of the reasons why you help can get you started on the right track and keep you in harmony with yourself. You are in harmony when your life reflects your thoughts and beliefs. You are able to take the actions that you need to take to get you what you desire.
The reasons that call you to become a massage therapist also have a shadow side to them or a hidden aspect to them. The reasons why you are called to become a massage therapist are usually reflecting the things that you need to do for yourself. We often give to others what we need to give to ourselves.

Suze Ormans 8 qualities of a wealthy woman that she talks about in her book “Women and Money” could well be called 8 qualities of a wealthy massage therapist.
Most massage therapists are women and are caretakers - By caretakers I am referring to taking care of others before taking care of oneself. It is the caretaking that we do to get our own needs for love and nurturing fulfilled through our clients.
“When we caretake we assume responsibility for our clients’ healing. When we caregive we support clients in assuming responsibility for their own healing.” Jack Blackburn
Harmony and Balance - When you say one thing and do another - like telling people what to do to take care of themselves when you don’t do it yourself (like telling people to get regular massages and you don’t do it yourself) - you are not in harmony with yourself and you are not in balance with yourself.
Courage - It takes courage to ask for the money you need to be a wealthy massage therapist and say no to people who ask for discounts or try to get away with not showing up for appointments. It takes courage to be able to stand up for yourself and take care of yourself financially first before taking care of anyone else.
Generosity- When you give clearly without any hidden agenda of giving to get you will find yourself empowered by your giving. Helping, fixing and giving advice are all forms of defensive behavior that actually keep you from connecting at a deeper level. Massage therapists who take a serious ongoing look at the issues related to the need to help can learn the difference between helping and being of service which is true generosity.
Happiness follows being able to give generously.
Cleanliness allows you to have clear boundaries.
Inner Beauty and Wisdom follow.
You will then be a wealthy massage therapist.
