Article Marketing for massage therapists is really a new concept.  Article marketing is the process of writing short but to the point articles and submitting them to free online article directories.  There are two reasons for doing this:

To get a back link to your website.  A backlink is important because it is what the search engines use to rank and list your website in the results pages.  If your website is not the first when someone searches for ‘massage, your city’ or ‘massage, your area of town’, then getting backlinks to your site can help.   To get an idea of how many- go to the site that does come up first in the results and do a search in each of the major search engines  using this format    link:www.themassagesite.com  This will tell you how many sites are linking to that site.  Your job it to get more links than they have.  A backlink can also provide direct traffic to your site but is a secondary occurrence really.  The main thing is to look good to the search engines.
2. To create credibility and create a brand or name for yourself.   Many of the free directories like ezinearticles.com rank really good with the search engines.   Writing a good short article and placing it strategically around online can help create an online presence.

If you don’t know what to write about just start thinking about all of the things that you say to people day after day.  Writing online is just like talking to people.  Most people have such a short attention span online that anything technical will lose them right away.   Write about how massage has helped you personally or your views on healing.  Write about how the body and the muscles work.  Write about the diseases and conditions that people use massage for.   Don’t worry if you don’t think you are a writer.  It is just really about learning to communicate what you do.  I am not a writer either with over  1000 website pages and hundreds of blog posts!
