Building Content for your website

One of the secrets to building a successful website is about writing great content. Most massage therapists websites just have the standard 5-8 page website with the usual – Services, Features, Benefits of massage, Prices, Location…

The key to attracting clients and search engines is creating about 50 pages of content and keep adding pages every week or every few days. Now you are probably saying “I can’t write that much”. “I am not a good writer” or whatever other fears you have generated.

The thing is that every massage therapist needs to be writing about massage and what it can do for people sharing your experiences of what really happens on the table. As a profession, we need to be constantly educating clients and the best way to do that is through a website.

So where do you begin trying to figure out what to write about?
The Touch Research Institute has a great research data base of conditions that massage has shown to improve. Start with that list and write about the things you have seen in relation to those studies and reference the studies to back you up.

You don’t have to be a technical writer. Just write the way you talk. You can also use all of this information in brochures or flyers you distribute and mail out or use it in your newsletter that you can do online through your website or by sending it snail mail.

If you need help learning to write there are a few great Ebooks that are put out by Sitebuildit! to help you learn and yes they are Free.

  • Make Your Content Presell
  • Netwriting Masters Course
  • Service sellers Masters Course
  • Another idea is to use this Searchit! tool -
In the first step choose “Reference Library for Content” and then choose any of the selections in step two and then put your words that describe what kind of content you are looking for in the keyword box. Try the “find articles” selection in step 2 first as that will give you lists of articles that you can acutally use on your website as long as you reference the writer and follow the rules they have in using those articles. Ezine Articles is also a good source.

Also check these sources for ideas and examples of how to write:

    Massage Today

    Massage Magazine

Massage Nerds – list of massage articles.

If that isn’t enough to get you thinking about and creating articles for your website or maybe you don’t have the time to put into making a website with SBI, then you may be better off with a service such as www.massagelaunch.com where you can set up a simple website and they do the pay-per-click advertising to get you clients. I have been trying this out with my website www.citycentermassage.com and I have been getting a few phone calls each week from them. I highly recommend them and have worked with the owner and creator, Tim Prince extensively and the biggest thing I can say is that he is the nicest guy you will ever want to meet and his heart is sincerely invested in making a website work for your business.

The reason for writing so much content is that it will help the search engines to find you and it will also build trust with your readers.
