Important Breaking News- National Certification Board Pizza

This just in…

NCBTMB will now be giving pizza discounts and jiffy oil discounts – that is a sure way to get new members and retain members – NOT!

Laura Allen just wrote about it on her blog at Massage Magazine.

What is also interesting is the the NCE is looking like they are setting up a membership driven organization.  Did we need another one?  I guess so since AMTA decided to dump supporting them.  Our profession is already a mess because of having 3 major ones.  I often think what power we would have and what we could get done if there was just one unified organization.  National TV ads come to mind as well as being accepted in the medical profession.

I of course have never been Nationally Certified and I always thought if they changed the requirements and made me have to get it I would get out of the profession that very day.  The long rocky history of National Certification is troublesome to those of us who have never taken the test.  They were created by AMTA a long time ago with the intention of it being an entry exam into the AMTA.  Without any research on how much education is needed to become a successful massage therapist, they arbitrarily just decided it would be a test for everyone.  Now it is required in some states for getting your massage license.
