Los Angeles Massage Schools are licensed by Los Angeles City Clerk or that is what I found in an article from the LA Times from 2003 .

So I found the City Clerks website and didn’t find much about what is needed to practice massage there.

I am collecting bits and pieces of information about massage licensing and massage schools in Los Angeles but it is way beyond confusing! Ok it’s impossible!

There is so much lack of information on something that should be so straight forward. (like put in massage licensing WA and the first result is the Massage State Board).

After about a half hour of searching I finally did find this document which appears to be the laws regarding massage in Los Angeles ,

But there wasn’t any info on who to contact for licensing or how to get a massage license in LA.

The only other current information I could find on California State Licensing issues was this on the Healing Arts Institute in CA

Is there really a medical exam necessary as outlined here in this City of Los Angeles website?

And is it illegal to practice if you have HIV or Aids?

And does it really cost $1400 to open a massage studio?
