Preventing the flu is on everyone’s minds these days. It might be a good time to review your hygiene practices in your massage office and at home. Good hand washing is the beginning of it all but there are other things that need to be done to stop the spread of the flu and other diseases/conditions between massage clients and between you and the clients.
- alcohol based liquids or wipes (not anti-microbal wipes!)
- wash sheets, face covers in 160 degree water and dry in hot dryer
- Wash all hot stones or other equipment
- Wipe table and face rest.
- Clean face covers for each client
- Wash hands in between each client
- STAY HOME When you are sick! and clients too!
Don’t panic about the flu or getting the flu. More people die from the regular flu than they do from the new swine flu strain.
Self care also is important and getting the rest you need, eating right (No sugar, refined carbs and plenty of vegetables and fruit.) Stretch, get regular weekly massage, get other therapies such as acupunture, chiropractic and visit your Naturopathic Doctor.
