Who is your Ideal Client???
My ideal client is someone who values my work and values massage. They understand that getting regular massage is a necessary part of health and life. They value my time and offer to pay for any last minute cancellations and they know that they won’t get the full hour if they are late. They don’t ask me to come in on my days off (or rarely do - unless it is an emergency situation). They refer their friends and family members regularly.
The majority of my practice is made up of people just like that. Most of my clients have been seeing me regularly - 1-2x a week or 2x a month for over 15 years. I have been doing massage for 17 so that really tells you a lot about my clients.
As I was thinking about it today, I realized that I never really ever did anything to get them to come regularly. They just want to or even need to.
The biggest thing I say that may motivate them a little more to come more regularly is to tell them that it is most common for people to get a massage once a week and then I tell them about my 2 guys who come 2x a week and they start dreaming about it!
When you have a practice like that, it doesn’t take much to keep it going.
Most massage therapists I know have practices just like that. They just happen. They happen because of who the therapist is and what they believe in - not really any big marketing program.

“These can be transferred into a statement about what I do want in a client.
I want to work with people who take care of themselves
I want to work with people who take responsibility for their health and participate in the work.
I want to work with people who understand the value of the work and my time.
I want people who are on time and value my time.”
I would make a further refinement on this by saying “I work with people who…” not “I WANT to…”. To me, saying “want” reaffirms the “want” or “lack of.”
