Starting a Peer Supervision Group is one of the best things you can
do for yourself as a massage therapist.
I have been
participating in and learning about peer supervision groups for the
past 5 years of my 18 year massage career. I wish I had been
in one since the very beginning of my career, but they were not very
popular at that time.
I have created a Peer
Supervision Kit which includes a manual on how to start and run your
own peer supervision group and also email support from me as you
begin gathering people. I will also come to the first
gathering to facilitate the session and help you learn how to
actually participate in a group. We can set it up to meet in
my building which is in Downtown Seattle or in your office ( needs
to be able to hold the group sitting in chairs in a circle)
One of the biggest challenges is learning to listen. The main
thing to remember is that it is not about giving your advice about
what someone else should do to solve their dilemma or help their
situation. It is learning to help others to feel themselves
and stay present so that they can learn to take responsibility for
themselves.
